Lois Riskey

September 18, 1922 — December 19, 2010

Lois Lucille May Smail Riskey passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, December 19, 2010.   She was born on September 18, 1922 in Platteville, WI, the daughter of Ervin and Celia (Gherke) Smail.   She moved to Stoughton eighteen years ago to be by her daughters after selling her home on Old Sauk Rd, which she loved.   She enjoyed playing cards in euchre tournaments, bingo, her violets and watching the birds.   Lois worked at Central Colony, Wisconsin Center.   She is survived by her children, Patty (Larry) Dahl, Karen (Glenn) Marsh of Stoughton, and John (Mary) Hull of Madison, and by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister, Charlotte Tarala; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Smail.   She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald, four children, Jackie Harmon, Roger Kilgore, Sandra Haney, and Charles Hull; and by 2 brothers, Clinton and Clifford Smail.   Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 23, 2010 at noon at the Olson-Holzhuter-Cress Funeral Home in Stoughton, with the Rev. Mary Pharmer officiating.   A luncheon reception will be held at the Stoughton VFW Hall, followed by burial at Highland Memory Gardens in Cottage Grove.   The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00 am until the time of service.   Thanks to Patty and Larry's love, to keep mom home, where she loved to be.    Thanks for always being there with meals, mowing, grocery shopping and helping mom with everything that needed to be done.   She loved Larry's cooking and would wait each night for it to come.   Thanks Patty for putting your life on hold, staying with mom through her difficult time the past few years.
