Lois Louise Smith

August 15, 1924 — April 23, 2011

Sun Prairie/Madison-Lois Louise Smith of Sun Prairie passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 23, 2011.
Lois was born in Madison on August 15, 1924, the daughter of Lewis Peter and Frieda Poster. A graduate of Madison East High School, Lois worked for her uncle Bob Bender at Checker Cab, was a member of the United States Armed Forces Institute and a proud member of the American Red Cross ""Gallon Club"" during World War II.
In 1946 she married John R. Montague who preceded her in death. Together they had four daughters. In 1970 she married Paul A. Smith. They spent over 40 wonderful years together. They enjoyed travelling, Sunday afternoon drives, and spending time with family.
Lois is survived by her daughters Cynthia L. (Ronnie) Meister of Madison, Gail A. Montague of Madison, Susan L. Montague (Rob Sommer) of Davidson, NC, and Janet M. Lovick of DeForest. Also surviving her are her grandchildren Todd Meister of Sun Prairie, Tracy Meister of Madison, Myke Montague (Erika Otis) of Sun Prairie, Troy (Stephanie) Meister of Sun Prairie, John (Lisa) Harmon of Marshall, Maxwell Sommer of Davidson, NC, Jordan Harmon of DeForest, and Quinn Sommer of Davidson, NC., her great-grandchildren Garrett, Rayne, Gabriel, Ayden, Avalynn and Amelia. Lois was very proud of all of her family. She is also survived by her sisters Mary Ann Konkel of Madison, Patricia L. Doyle of Sun Prairie, Barbara Poster of Rock Springs, brother's in law John (Clarann) Smith of Topeka, KS, David Smith of Madison, Ralph (Carol) Smith of Oregon, sister in law Mary (Chris) Christpherson of Camden, WI, special friends Jack and Betty Watts of Madison, Leroy and Prudy Pierce of Lake Mills, and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Lucille (Poster) Vick, her brother Lewis H. Poster, and a son-in-law Terry L. Harmon.
The family would like to thank Dr. and Mrs. Albert Musa, Sun Prairie EMS, Todd Wieser, and the staff of Oak Park Place for the special care they provided.
A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at Cress Funeral Home, 3325 E. Washington Ave., Madison, with Father Jay Poster officiating. A visitation will be held 4:00 - 7:00 PM on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at Cress Funeral Home and again from 10:00 am until the time of service on Wednesday.
On Saturday the world lost a one of a kind lady and heaven gained another angel.
And one last thing to the love of her life~
