Lonnie Hoiberg

October 29, 1941 — August 4, 2021

Lonnie Harold Hoiberg, 79, passed away peacefully on the evening of August 4th, 2021 at Nazareth Health and Rehabilitation Center in Stoughton, WI.

He was born October 29th, 1941 in Madison, WI to Lester H. Hoiberg and LaVonne J. Gerth.

After graduation, Lonnie joined the Navy and was onboard the USS Guadalcanal in 1966 when the Gemini X astronauts and their spacecraft were recovered after they landed in the Atlantic Ocean.

He worked at Beloit Corporation as a machinist from 1973 until they closed their doors in 2000.

In his free time he enjoyed fishing and was an avid reader, often finishing a book a day or more. He was a lifelong Packer fan and became a huge Badgers fan when he moved back to Wisconsin from Florida. He was a music lover and enjoyed singing any chance he could, especially in church choirs. He was a proud parishioner of Saint Ann Catholic Parish in Stoughton, WI.

He is survived by his wife, Cyndie Hoiberg of Janesville, WI; siblings Shirley Hoiberg of Stoughton, WI and Les (Terry) Hoiberg of Seminole, FL; children Curtis (Jesse) Hoiberg of Philadelphia, PA, Erin Rose (Rachel) Tollefsen of Milton, WI, Daniel James (Sam) Hoiberg of Janesville, WI and grandchildren Jorden, Branson, Sophia Rose, and Willow Anne. He was predeceased by his parents and stepfather Robert M. Fanning.

The family would like to thank the staff of Nazareth Health and Rehabilitation Center and everyone at Saint Ann Catholic Parish for taking such good care of Lonnie. The family would also like to say thank you to the Cress staff for all your help during this very difficult time. We are eternally grateful to you all.
