Stoughton- Lorraine T. Ward, age 95, died peacefully at the Skaalen Home in Stoughton on Friday, February 20, 2009. Â She was born on July 27, 1913 in Milwaukee. Â Lorraine was the daughter of the late Floyd and Edith (Baumgarten) Thomas. Â The Thomas family were longtime residents of Stoughton. Â She graduated from the Stoughton schools. Â Furthering her education Lorraine graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a Bachelors degree in 1938. Â She was employed by the U.S. Government in the Department of the Army as a Statistician for many years. Â Lorraine was a veteran of WWII. Â Her employment travels took her to various places in the United States, Japan and Paris, France. Â She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and the Order of the Eastern Star, Friends of the Stoughton Historical Society and Stoughton Public Library. Â She was married to Harvey Ward, who preceded her in death in 1962. Â Lorraine is survived by two nephews, Conrad Christianson of Winchester, VA and Joel Christianson of Lincoln, NE; and niece, Ann Handley of Wichita, KS. Â Memorial services will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at the Skaalen Home Chapel, 400 N. Morris Street, Stoughton. Â
