Lory Wenger

MADISON—It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lory Wenger (Keller), a beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.  She passed away peacefully on November 15, 2023, at the age of 95, in her home in Madison, WI, surrounded by her family.  

Lory was born on June 29, 1928 in Dubuque, Iowa and lived in the Monroe/Monticello area until she was a young teen.  She then moved to Madison, where she lived the rest of her life.  At an early age, Lory and her friends kicked up their heels at Turner Hall and made many great memories.  This is also where she met her husband, Herb Wenger.  As her life unfolded, Lory enjoyed neighborhood block parties, doing word searches, bowling, playing Bingo, and trying to outwit the one arm bandits.  She also had an unconditional love for animals and always had them as part of the family.

Lory will be missed by her three children, Sue (Jim) Weber, Don (Rosemary) Wenger, Steve (Joyce) Quist, her granddaughter Stacy (Nate) Shulfer, three lovely great grandchildren, Owen, Mason and Carly Shulfer, and several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.  Lory is preceded in death by her husband, Herb Wenger; brother, Alfred Keller; her twin sister; and her parents.

Visitation will be from 11-1:00 PM on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at Cress Funeral Home, 3325 E. Washington Ave. Madison.  Lory will be reunited with her husband, Herb, at Roselawn Memorial Park in Monona immediately following the visitation. 

The family wishes to thank The Jefferson Retirement Center and the caregivers of Agrace, Agape and My Choice for taking such great care of Lory and her family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her memory to Agrace Hospice Care or the Dane County Humane Society.
