Louis ""Lou"" Frederick Janke died at home Friday, March 4. Â Born August 26, 1922 in Mt. Horeb, Wisconsin, Lou was the son of Everett and Edna Janke. He married the love of his life, Phyllis Maxine ""Peg"" Losey August 24, 1946. Â Lou is survived by his wife Peg of Sun Prairie; children Louis (Deborah) Colville, Washington; Marcia Roehrdanz (Rich) Fargo, North Dakota; Robert (Mari Jo) Eau Claire, Wisconsin; Mary Jo Janke, Minneapolis; grandchildren Patrick, Amber, Nicholas, Alexis, Aurora, Marena, Maddie, and great-grandson Everett. Â During World War II Lou served in the United States Army Air Corps as a bombardier navigator. In 1947 he earned a bachelor of science in entomology from the University of Wisconsin Madison. Â Lous career life centered around the cheese business and in 1964 Lou and his family moved to Sun Prairie when he began work as vice president in charge of production at the Wisconsin Cheeseman. He retired in 1985. Â Lous civic contributions include active and greatly respected participation in the Sun Prairie Lions Club and Shriners Zor Temple. Lou thrilled children of all ages with his mastery of balloon art and his role as clown Cotton Candy (Zor Shrine Clown Unit) gave him ""great pleasure."" Â In 1964 Lou, his wife and children, built the family cottage on an island in Lake of the Woods, Ontario, Canada. ""I enjoy every minute I spend there,"" he said, ""We fish, boat, swim, maintain and improve the land and cottage."" And when the rain comes, many hours are spent in euchre tournaments and playing games. Â Other life enjoyments included hunting, woodworking and travel.
