Louise Witt

August 8, 1922 — January 30, 2020

Louise F. Witt passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2020 at Agrace Hospice facility in Fitchburg. Born August 8th, 1922 to Walter W. and Laura (Watts) Twidwell at Plymouth - McDonough County, Illinois. She was preceded in death by David H. Witt, her husband of sixty-four years, her parents and two brothers, Harold and Teddy. She is survived by a son Dr. Rodney Layne Witt, a daughter Linda Lou Witt, daughter-in-law Linda (Witt), granddaughter Abbey (Dan Barnes) and great granddaughter Layla (Barnes).

Louise attended a one-room country schoolhouse and graduated from Plymouth High School in a class of twenty-five in 1940. On her first day of school, she was taken by horse and buggy and in winter many times by horse-drawn sleigh. Marrying David on October 12, 1940, they established their first home in Fowler, Illinois, later moving to Deer Creek, Illinois, then Wolf Lake, Indiana, where David worked for a small tractor manufacturer eventually purchased by J.I. Case. In 1961 they settled in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin.

Louise worked for almost twenty years for Drs. Behrend and Russell at their offices on Main Street, Sun Prairie. She enjoyed flower gardening, especially roses, and the crocheting of many lap blankets for her friends in wheel chairs. Since the passing of David in 2004, she lived independently at Aster Retirement Center in Cottage Grove.

Louise specifically wished to thank Dr. Greg Motl, who cared for her in her final years, and to her children for the many memories they provided.

A private service will be held by Cress Funeral Home of Sun Prairie. Memorials may be donated to Agrace Hospice in Fitchburg in recognition of their kind assistance to Louise on her journey.
