Mooresville, North Carolina/Stoughton - Lucille Edith (Steger) Kobussen, 89, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 21, 2011, at the Levine & Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville, NC. She was born on July 15, 1921, in Park Falls, the daughter of Mary Edith Wileman and Albert Vincent Steger. Lucille married Daniel Kobussen on August 16, 1941, in Janesville. She was a long time member of the Wisconsin Telephone Company Pioneers. Lucille enjoyed playing bridge with friends, painting sea landscapes, and sea shell art after gathering shells at the ocean, especially during her favorite vacations at Sand Pebble. Dan and Lucille left Madison, in 1977 and moved to Lake Placid, FL, and later to Palm Coast, FL. More recently, Lucille resided in Fitchburg and Harmony House, Stoughton. For the past five years, she has resided at Churchhill Assisted Living in Mooresville, NC. Lucille was a devoted wife, a loving mother and a special grandmother/great grandmother. She is survived by seven children, Richard (Susan) Kobussen, Plymouth, MN; Paul (Rose Marie) Kobussen, Northbrook, IL; Joseph (Mary) Kobussen, Stoughton; Joan (Don) Fischer, Hendersonville, NC; Terese (Rob) Zache, Verona; Mary (John) Fischer, Cornelius, NC; Dan (Lise) Kobussen, Prairie du Sac; 19 grandchildren, Chris Cameron, Matt Kobussen, Mark Kobussen, David Kobussen, Daniel Kobussen Jr., Kathryn Fenner, Colleen Kobussen, Karen Axford, Lisa Wilcox, Jennifer Spiegel, Melissa Biller, Kristin Vroman, Emilie Kobussen, Kiersten Kobussen, Al Fischer, Tom Fischer, Sonja McKay, Bill Fischer and Andy Fischer; 16 great grandchildren, Gabriel and Noah Cameron, Grady Kobussen, Annie and Tom Fenner, Zachary, Connor and Katelyn Wilcox, Cameron and Owen Biller, Caden Vroman, Ashley and Hayden Axford, Annika McKay and Brock and Bjorn Spiegel; a sister, Mary Elizabeth Wright, Janesville; a sister-in-law, Shirley Steger, Bridgewater, VA; a brother-in-law, Ollie Westby, Manitowish Waters; sister-in-law, Patsy Westby, Atlanta, GA; three nieces and one nephew. Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel; her parents, Albert Vincent Steger and Mary Edith Wileman; a brother, Donald Steger, Bridgewater, VA. A memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, May 9, 2011 at St. Ann's Catholic Church, 323 N. Van Buren Street, Stoughton, with Monsignor Gerard Healy officiating. Friends may greet the family from 9:00 AM until the time of services on Monday. Burial will be with her husband, Dan, in the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to St. Ann's Catholic School, Stoughton.
