Lucille K Rosefelt

November 6, 1920 — March 22, 2011

Lucille Kendall Rosefelt, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2011, at the age of 90.  Loving wife of the late Parker Rosefelt, cherished mother of Bonnie Dill (David), Harry Rosefelt (Nina),  Reid Rosefelt (Melissa).   She is also survived by grandchildren Laura Orlowski (Andrew), Joshua (Jennifer Cocchiarella) and Isaac Rosefelt and great-grandaughter Sophie Orlowski.  She was preceded in death by her brother Lowell Kendall and sister Jeanette Goldman.  Lucille was born on November 6th, 1920 in Milwaukee, the daughter of the late Edward and Gussie (Goldberg) Kendall.   She studied to be a teacher and proudly served her country during World War II in the W.A.V.E.S.  She was in uniform when she married Parker in 1944.   It was a loving union that would last over 60 years, until her husband' s death in 2007.  Lucille and Parker moved the family to the Madison area in 1960.    Lucille adored sewing, knitting, classical music, golf, gardening (particularly her prize-winning roses), and the color turquoise.  But her first love was taking care of her family.  She drew her greatest satisfactions from being a wife and mother, keeping house, bringing her children up well, and keeping peace in the family.  Judaism was integral to Lucille's life: she attended Sabbath services regularly at Temple Beth El and she made certain that the moral values of her religion were instilled in her children.  After her kids grew up, Lucille returned to teaching kindergarten classes, helping other children as she had so admirably helped her own.   Lucille's optimism and spirit lives on through her children and their families, who try to live by the positive and loving example she set.  Her family will always remember our Lucy' s dry sense of humor and ready smile, her strong will, her strength in a crisis, and her wisdom.   It is no exaggeration to say that she will continue to live every single day in her family's hearts.   A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday March 25, 2011 at Forest Hill Cemetery,   1 Speedway Rd., Madison.   In lieu of flowers, please send donations to: Olbrich Botanical Gardens, 3330 Atwood Ave. Madison, WI. 53704 or the Nancy Radbil Scholarship Fund, c/o J. Luck, 2341 W. Daphne Rd., Milw., WI. 53209.
