Lucille Westervelt

Lucille (Offerdahl) Westervelt died on February 28, 2022 at the age of 90.  She was the 6th of 8 children born to Eda (Furseth) and Percy Offerdahl, but was the last to die.  The family was well known for being the Norway-American family featured in the Saturday Evening Post in 1948.  She graduated from Stoughton High School in 1949.  Lucille attended Madison General Hospital School of Nursing, and graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1952.  She was an excellent nurse, and put in charge of a floor after graduating.  Lucille married Robert Westervelt of Long Island New York April 25th 1953.  He was her one true love.

Lucille and Robert had 3 children: Scott (deceased), Bruce (Mary), and Susan.  They had 5 grandchildren:  Alex, Devin (deceased), Robert (Alicia), Michael, and David.  Bob and Lucille had 2 great grandchildren as well: Lucille and Charles.

She was a Sunday School teacher, Brownie and Girl Scout Troop Leader, member of University Hill Farms card club since 1955, a volunteer at Attic Angel (and resident at Attic Angel after retirement) since 1967, a member of a Philanthropic Educational Organization (PEO), church circle, book club, and civic club.  Lucille enjoyed doing counted cross stitch and Hardanger (a special kind of Norwegian needle work).

Funeral services will be held at Bethel Lutheran Church in Madison Wisconsin on Saturday March 12, 2022; 10:30 visitation followed by a 12:00 service.  A private family burial will take place on Monday, March 14.  Contributions can be made in memory of Lu to your favorite charity or to the Bethel Lutheran Church Foundation.
