Luella Marie Gunsolus

Luella M. Gunsolus, age 90, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at Skaalen Home in Stoughton.   A lifelong resident of Stoughton, she was born there on June 27, 1920, a daughter of Ralph and Josie ( Anderson) Lunde.   On July 3, 1943, she was united in marriage to Elton Gunsolus in Houston, Texas.   They were a devoted couple who enjoyed 60 years of married life together.   Luella was an elementary school teacher with the Stoughton School District for 25 years.   She loved teaching 4th grade students and also enjoyed her early years of teaching at several country schools in the Stoughton area.   She is survived by 2 sons, Jeffrey (Karla) Gunsolus of Maplewood, Minn. and Steven Gunsolus of Stoughton; a granddaughter, Alyssa Gunsolus; a grandson, Ian Gunsolus; 2 brothers, Royal (Marie) Lunde and Duane (Mary) Lunde; and many nieces and nephews.   She is further survived by her friend, Becky Wornson, whom she loved as a daughter, and whose love and devotion sustained her during the last years of her life.   She was preceded in death by her husband, Elton; and by a sister, Arlette Vale.   Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2010 at 11:00 am at Skaalen Chapel, 400 N. Morris St., Stoughton, with the Rev. Mark Petersen officiating.   Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Stoughton.   The family will greet friends at the chapel on Thursday from 10:00 am until the time of service. The family thanks the staff at the Skaalen Home for their care and compassion. The assistance of Hospice Care staff is also much appreciated.
