Luella M. Gunsolus, age 90, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at Skaalen Home in Stoughton. Â A lifelong resident of Stoughton, she was born there on June 27, 1920, a daughter of Ralph and Josie ( Anderson) Lunde. Â On July 3, 1943, she was united in marriage to Elton Gunsolus in Houston, Texas. Â They were a devoted couple who enjoyed 60 years of married life together. Â Luella was an elementary school teacher with the Stoughton School District for 25 years. Â She loved teaching 4th grade students and also enjoyed her early years of teaching at several country schools in the Stoughton area. Â She is survived by 2 sons, Jeffrey (Karla) Gunsolus of Maplewood, Minn. and Steven Gunsolus of Stoughton; a granddaughter, Alyssa Gunsolus; a grandson, Ian Gunsolus; 2 brothers, Royal (Marie) Lunde and Duane (Mary) Lunde; and many nieces and nephews. Â She is further survived by her friend, Becky Wornson, whom she loved as a daughter, and whose love and devotion sustained her during the last years of her life. Â She was preceded in death by her husband, Elton; and by a sister, Arlette Vale. Â Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2010 at 11:00 am at Skaalen Chapel, 400 N. Morris St., Stoughton, with the Rev. Mark Petersen officiating. Â Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Stoughton. Â The family will greet friends at the chapel on Thursday from 10:00 am until the time of service. The family thanks the staff at the Skaalen Home for their care and compassion. The assistance of Hospice Care staff is also much appreciated.
