Lyle Iver Christopherson, age 66, died in a tragic automobile accident in Stoughton on Sunday, January 3, 2010. Â He was born in Stoughton on May 29, 1943, a son of the late Iver and Arlene (Hanson) Christopherson, and graduated from the University of Wisconsin. Â Lyle was united in marriage to Kayoko Goto in August of 1976. Â He loved to travel, and visited many places all over the world. Â His passport was an inch thick and often required additional pages. Â He taught Social Studies in junior and senior high schools throughout Wisconsin, at the Canadian Academy International School in Japan, where he met Kayoko, and at the International school in Puerto Rico. Â He later taught at the Defense Language Institute in San Antonio, Texas, where he was also involved in Real Estate and with the Amway Company. Â Lyle and Kayoko were also involved with Amway when they moved back to Japan, where Lyle also taught English at Japanese Colleges. Â After retiring from teaching, they continued to split their time between Japan and Stoughton. Â In addition to his love for travel, Lyle is remembered for his easy going nature and his enjoyment of chess at the Senior Center. Â He is survived by his wife, Kayoko; daughter, Miki; brother, John (Kathi); sister, Lois (Ed) Maki; cousins, nieces and nephews. Â A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 9, 2010 at the Olson-Holzhuter-Cress Funeral Home in Stoughton. Â The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm, and again on Saturday from 10:00 am until the time of service. Â Following services, a luncheon will be held at the Stoughton American Legion Hall. Â
