Madeleine E. Baltes

Stoughton- Madeleine E. Baltes, age 93, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 in Oregon. She was born in Kenosha on March 23, 1918 to John and Elizabeth (Chudada) Gurichan. Madeleine was married to Dominic Baltes on June 28, 1941. After his death, she moved to Milwaukee and worked for the Milwaukee School Board for many years. Following retirement Madeleine moved to Bradenton, Florida, where she enjoyed the sunshine for more than twenty years. Madeleine loved to travel the world, visiting China, Turkey, Egypt, Israel and Europe. She loved music, especially jazz and big band, and attended many concerts and shows. Madeleine is survived by her son, George Baltes; daughter-in-law, Kathleen; two grandchildren, Geoffrey and Jennifer; and a sister, Olga Heiden. She was preceded in death by her husband; and parents. A memorial Mass will be held at 1:30 PM on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at St. Ann Catholic Church in Stoughton, with Monsignor Gerard Healy officiating. Burial will take place on Thursday, June 9, 2011 in St. George Cemetery in Kenosha at approximately 11am. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 1:00 PM until the time of services or at the cemetery on Thursday.
