Mae K. Fetzer, 89, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2023 with family by her side.
Mae was born on April 29, 1933 in Taylor County, Wisconsin to John and Elizabeth (Danen) Habermeyer. She is survived by her daughter, Nan (Dave) Laufenberg of Waunakee Wisconsin and her son, Clark Fetzer of Brooklyn Wisconsin. She is further survived by her loving granddaughters Tina (John) Wolf of Evansville Wisconsin and Kelsey (Luke Doedens) Laufenberg of Deforest Wisconsin, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings and their spouses; Louise “Betty” (Mike) White-Beck, Anita (Lyle) Johnson, Joan (Ken) Paul and Eugene (Mary) Habermeyer; and a niece and nephew.
Mae was united in marriage to Melvin Fetzer on August 28, 1954 and they were later divorced.
She enjoyed winery outings with her daughter and granddaughters, playing solitaire, UNO and Bingo, a good book and jigsaw puzzles. She also enjoyed the kittens her daughter fostered for the Dane County Humane Society.
Per her request, there will be no services. It was her wish to donate her body to the UW Madison - School of Medicine. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to the family for a charity to be determined at a later date.
Her family would like to thank the staff at Home Again Living in Waunakee for all the love and support they provided the last two years. She truly enjoyed living there and met a lot of wonderful people.
“Perhaps they are not stars in the sky, but rather openings where our loved ones shine down to let us know they are happy”
We will miss you dearly and will forever remember how fortunate we were to have you in our lives.
