MADISON - Mae G. Klein passed away peacefully in the presence of family on Monday, December 26, 2011, two days after her 89th Birthday. Born in Fitchburg, WI, raised in Oregon, WI, Mae was an avid lover of music. As an accomplished clarinetist, she sat first chair in the Oregon H.S. Band and in her senior year was voted most popular girl of her Class of 1941. After high school Mae moved to Madison where she met, and married, Robert James Klein, and together raised their four children. Her grace, bright smile and inviting manner won her many friends and helped her achieve a successful career as a Dental Assistant. She also worked in the family business "Klein's Bakery" before retiring to her favorite job - being a loving mother to her family and to her passion - working in the yard and garden. She delighted in the faces of children and enjoyed lunching often with friends. Her strong work ethic, perseverance and ability to stay strong in the face of adversity is a legacy she passed on to her children.
She is survived by her four children: Cheryl McLeod, Crivitz; Terry (Kelley) Klein, Muskego; Nancy (Duaine) Boehnen, Cross Plains; R. Joseph Klein, Madison. She is also survived by three sisters: Dorothy Williams, Oregon; Jean Buchanan, Madison; Betty (Bill) Meier, Oregon; five grandchildren, six great grandchildren, as well as many loving nephews and nieces, all of whom she adored. Mae was preceded in death by her husband, Robert.
The family welcomes you to a visitation Saturday, January 7 beginning at 1:00 pm, followed by a Memorial Service at 2:00 pm at Cress, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison. In lieu of flowers - donations may be made to Agrace HospiceCare (5395 E.
