Marcene Thousand

Madison - Marcene Ann Thousand, passed away on Thursday, June 21, 2018, at Sebring in Madison. She was born in Platteville, WI the daughter of Guerdon and Milda Medley. Marcene was united in marriage to William (Bill) R. Thousand on April 5, 1952. She and her husband Bill owned and operated Barneveld Gas & Electric and Barneveld Motors in Barneveld, WI for many years. In 1972 they began a long-term volunteer commitment that took them to Jamaica, Guatemala, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, and Costa Rica. They participated in various volunteer opportunities from 1987 to 2008 in Tucson, Arizona as well.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Marcene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bill, and her brother Dale.

A memorial service will be held at Cress Funeral Home, 3610 Speedway Road in Madison, on July 21, 2018, at 11:00 am. A visitation will be held at the funeral home at 10:30 am until the time of the service. A luncheon will follow the service.

The family is very grateful to Sebring and Agrace HospiceCare for their care and compassion. The family would also like to thank Lori Thousand and Kathy Thousand for the special attention they gave Marcene over the last few months and weeks of her life.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Barneveld Public Library Building Program, Barneveld Lutheran Church, Agrace HospiceCare, or a charity of your choice.
