Verona – Marcia Wheeler Cady died peacefully at Badger Prairie Health Care Center on Thursday morning, October 14, at the age of 79.
Marcia was born on June 20, 1942, in Hartford, CT, the daughter of Ernest H. Jr. and Elizabeth (Wheeler) Cady. She lived with her parents in Farmington, CT, until 1989, when she moved to Madison, WI. Marcia graduated from Hannah More Academy in 1960 and from Garland Junior College in 1962. She held a variety of jobs, but her favorite was representing the State of Connecticut at the World’s Fair in Flushing Meadows, New York, in 1964.
In her adult years, Marcia struggled bravely with chronic illness but loved to travel and managed to visit Europe, Canada, and the Caribbean Islands. After college, she spent six months in Paris in a language program. She loved parties, dance music, and every romance novel by Danielle Steel. She adored the many cats and dogs in her care over the years.
Marica lived independently in Madison from 1989 to 2001. She resided at Sienna Crest Assisted Living in Oregon, WI, until 2013 when she moved to Badger Prairie. She leaves behind one sister, Jane Cady Fitchen of Fitchburg, a niece, Anne Currier, two nephews, Chris and Bill Fitchen, and six grand nieces and nephews. We will miss Marcia, especially the example of her truly amazing sense of humor under duress.
Marcia’s family is profoundly grateful for the exceptional and compassionate care and camaraderie provided by the Badger Prairie staff over the eight years she lived there.
