Marcia Kay Pollock, age 78, passed away Monday, May 22, 2023. She was born February 7, 1945, the daughter of Brice and Dorothy Tedrow, in Van Buren County, Iowa.
Marcia was a gifted basketball player in a time before girls played many sports, she attended Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, and married Davis Pollock. She became a teacher and together they moved to Madison in 1982. Marcia then attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison where she earned her Masters degree in Social Work. She spent her twenty-year career in social work at Meriter Hospital in Madison.
Marcia was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend who touched many lives with her generous and loving heart. Over the course of her lifetime Marcia traveled all over but returned four times to her favorite place, Peru. She was a lifelong learner, and built a loving community of close friends and faithful canine companions around her. She inspired others by her quiet strength, unfailing compassion, and continual search for spiritual meaning. Marcia had a tender and loving heart and was a devoted mother, doting grandmother, and generous friend.
Marcia is survived by her son, Eric (Eve) Pollock and their children, Annabelle and Natalie, her daughter, Kirsten Pollock, her sister, Mary, her brother, Lawrence, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Davis A. Pollock, and her brothers, Oscar and Joe.
A visitation will be held from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm Thursday, May 25, 2023 at the Cress Center, 6021 University Ave., Madison, WI 53705.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials in Marcia’s name to the Lussier Community Education Center, or plant a tree in her memory.
