Marcia Lynne du Vair

February 26, 1940 — January 12, 2009

MADISON- Marcia Lynne du Vair, age 68, died on January 12, 2009, after a valiant and extraordinary 43-year struggle with diabetes.   She was born on February 26, 1940, the daughter of the late Herman Leo Halverson Sr., and Marcella (Bartle) Halverson of Stoughton, Wisconsin. She was married to her high school sweetheart, Paul du Vair of Madison and Alsace, France. Marcia attended Lakewood Elementary School, Edgewood High School and the University of Wisconsin-Madison.   She majored in Home Economics and was a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority.   She was active in neighborhood affairs and served as President of the Arbor Hills Garden Club.   Marcia also served as President of the Cherokee Middle School PFO and was a member of the Madison Junior Women's Club, the Madison Civics Club, the Chamber of Commerce Auxiliary (Jaycettes), and the St. Joseph Altar Society.   She was an avid bridge player, numismatist, and traveler.   Marcia is survived by her husband, Paul; her two daughters, Suzanne du Vair and Elise (du Vair) McLimans; her granddaughter, Caitlin McLimans; her brothers, Herman Leo Halverson Jr., and Robert Halverson; thirty-one nieces and nephews, and many friends who helped her through her difficult struggle.   A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 17, 2009, at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, 2015 Parmenter Street, Middleton, WI.   There will be no visitation.   In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the American Diabetes Association.
