Margaret H. Breunig

Madison-Margaret H. ""Amama"" Breunig, age 84, passed away on Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at the HospiceCare Center, Fitchburg. She was born on March 20, 1925 to United States immigrants, her father Max Scharrer from Germany and her mother Anna (nee Geisler) Scharrer from Austria. Margaret met her future husband Herman  ""Butch"" Breunig on the dance floor at the Riverview Ball Room in Sauk City and was united in marriage on June 24, 1947 in Sauk City. Mrs. Breunig was a resident of Madison for the past 57 years. She was employed with the Madison School District in food service at Emerson School for over 30 years where she was lovingly referred to as the ""Lunch Lady"". After retirement she continued as a volunteer at Emerson School for the next 20 years helping out mostly in the office. She was a longtime member of St Bernard's Catholic Church, Madison. In her spare time Margaret enjoyed bowling, polka dancing and Gospel music (especially the Gaithers). She dedicated her life to helping others but more than anything she loved her family and took great pride and enjoyment in her grandchildren. Margaret is survived by her loving family which includes her daughters, Sharyn (James) Boyles, Madison and Holly (Steven) Markley, Waunakee; her beloved grandchildren, Heidi & Rebecca Boyles and Sara & Benjamin Markley; her brother, Max ""Budd"" (Marlene) Scharrer, Waukesha; nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1991, her parents, and sisters, Elsie Polfuss, Matilda ""Terry"" Mooney and Anne Thiel. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 4, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3325 E. Washington Ave. with Sandra Schieble officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be held in Roselawn Memorial Park, Monona. The family wishes any memorials to be sent to HospiceCare. The family would like to thank Dr. Robert Boyle, the staff at St. Mary's Hospital and to ""God's angels on earth"" the staff at HospiceCare.
