Margaret "Marge" Krohn, 91, died Saturday, June 15, 2013, at the Mayflower Community Health Care Center in Grinnell, Iowa.
A memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 21, 2013, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Grinnell, IA with Rev. Kathryn Roys officiating. The family will be present one hour prior to her service on Friday.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at Cress Funeral Home, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison. A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at Midvale Community Lutheran Church, 4329 Tokay Blvd., Madison, with Rev. Katie Baardseth officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery in Madison.

Margaret Caroline Blawusch Krohn was born on July 15, 1921, in Madison, Wisconsin, the daughter of John and Caroline Kepke Blawusch. Margaret, a life long resident of Madison, graduated from Madison East High School on June 17, 1938. Margaret received her B.S. degree in Home Economics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1942.
On August 29, 1943, she married Armin F. Krohn of Shawano, Wisconsin in Madison. She taught fur restyling at the Madison Area Technical College, during which time she co-authored the book "How to Sew Leather, Suede and Fur". Some of her other favorite hobbies included matting and framing pictures, antiquing, extensive travel with Armin, thimble collecting and shopping.
Margaret was an avid quilter and made quilts for her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and her church. She was a consumer products evaluator who brought home extra premarket cereals. She was a member of Midvale Community Lutheran Church in Madison for over 55 years, serving the church in many ways. Margaret matted and framed all the confirmation and pastors' pictures and the historical pictures of the church. She served on the Alter Guild, the Naomi Circle and helped organize wedding receptions. For the past two years, she attended St. John's Lutheran Church in Grinnell. Margaret was also involved in numerous organizations including the Daughters of Demeter, Questers, Madison Home Economics Association, Dairyland Thimble Association, Wisconsin Veterinary Auxiliary and the Madison Quilt Guild.
Margaret is survived by her three children, Timothy (Mary) Krohn of Cloquet, Minnesota, Jennifer Krohn (Boomer and Carver) of Grinnell, Iowa and Priscilla (Dennis) Fritsch of Atlanta, Georgia; five grandchildren, Jefferson (Heather) Krohn of Cloquet, Kristina and Brian (Kari) Krohn of St. Paul, Minnesota, Adam (Elizabeth) Fritsch of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin and Alexander Fritsch of Atlanta; three great grandchildren, Jaxton and Zain Krohn of Cloquet, and Ryan Fritsch of Wauwatosa; her sister, Ruth Hitchcock of Palo Alto, California; five nieces and ten grand nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents and one niece.
