Madison – Margaret C. “Maggie” Sime, age 32, passed away on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at her home in Madison. On October 4, 1988, she was born in Buffalo Grove, Illinois, the daughter of Jeffrey and Kim (King) Sime. Maggie graduated from Monroe High School and went on to attend Madison College. She graduated from the Aveda Institute but chose a different career and worked for Exact Sciences. Maggie married William D. Mitten on June 27, 2020.
Maggie was an animal enthusiast and pet owner. She was a skilled equestrian, downhill skier, and enjoyed cooking and gardening. She was very intelligent and loving. Her quick wit and playful nature was engaging and captivating. She was always open to new situations and people, so her natural naïveté sometimes left her vulnerable. Realizing her own tendencies, she became a strong advocate for those who were victims of bullying.
She is survived by her husband, William Mitten, and stepson Michael Mitten; her parents, Jeff and Kim Sime; grandmother, Geraldine Sime; father-in-law, Charles T. Mitten Jr.; step-mother-in-law, Amy Mitten; grandfather, Charles T. Mitten Sr.; and many other relatives and friends.
Maggie was preceded in death by Col. Richard R. King, Norma King, Dr. Claude Sime Jr., Catherine Mitten, TSGT Maynard Marine, and Dorothy Marine.
A celebration of Maggie’s life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Maggie’s name to the Dane County Humane Society or any Veterans Organization of your choice.
