Margaret M. Monahan

Margaret (Marjo) Mary Monahan, age 78, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on November 12^th, 2023.  Marjo was born July 1, 1945, in Beloit, WI to John W. Amend and Margaret (Osbourne) Amend. Marjo graduated from Beloit Catholic High School in Beloit, WI and then attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison, graduating as a registered dietician. Soon after, she married Thomas Monahan with whom she had two sons, Michael and Daniel. They lived in Madison, WI and Marjo spent her career working as an assistant food director for housing at UW-Madison, retiring in 2005.

She is survived by her long-term partner and friend David Robb; sons Michael (Laura) Monahan and Daniel (Annie) Monahan; grandchildren Lauren, Kate, William, Drew, Charlie, Sophie and Liam; brothers John Amend and Steve (Marcy) Amend, sister-in-law Eleanor Amend; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. 

Marjo was preceded in death by her husband Thomas, her parents, brother Phil Amend, sister-in-law Ariel Amend and granddaughter Emma. 

Marjo was a wonderful mother and grandmother, a loyal fan of the UW-Badgers and Green Bay Packers, and a dear friend to many.  The family would like to thank the staff at Carbone Cancer Center and Agrace Care at Home for their exceptional care and support.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Agrace Foundation. 

A Visitation and Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 18th, 2023, beginning at 10:30 am at Cress Funeral Home located at 3610 Speedway Road, Madison, WI 53705.
