Margaret Ames Myers, age 87, of Madison, passed away on Monday, Oct. 27, 2008, at Hebron Oaks, Oakwood Village. Â Margaret was born in Scottdale, PA, on March 23, 1921, to John and Catherine Ames. Â Margaret grew up in the Detroit area and attended St. Rose of Lima High School. Â Â She was a graduate of UW-Madison. Â Â Margaret served in the U.S. Army during WWII, working as a cryptographer. Â She married Richard Myers in Clinton, IA on Feb. 10, 1945. Among Margaret's many interests were baseball, hockey, sewing, photography, the city of San Francisco, foreign languages, music, and all things feline. Â Margaret was a volunteer organist in the early 1960's at St. Maria Goretti and St. Thomas Aquinas Parishes. Â She worked for many years in the UW-Madison General Library System prior to her retirement. Â Margaret later served as a volunteer at the Randall School Library. Â Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Richard (1996), and her son, Michael (1982). Â Survivors include her daughters, Patricia (Jeffrey) Myers-Hayer, of Alexandria, VA, Sheila Myers, of Severn, MD, and Suzanne Myers (James) Otto, of Madison. Â The family wishes to thank the caring staff of Oakwood Village, the Oakwood volunteers who brought in pet visitors, and Margaret's former neighbors in the Regent/Spooner neighborhood. Â A memorial service will be held at Cress Funeral Home, 3610 Speedway Rd., Madison, on Friday, Oct. 31, 2008, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Gwen Brandfass officiating. Â Visitation will be held Friday from noon until time of service. Memorials may be made to Oakwood Foundation, Inc. (Continuing Care Fund), 6201 Mineral Pt.
