Margaret L. Taylor

Margaret L. Taylor, age 95, of Sun Prairie died Monday, January 4, 2010 at St. Mary's Hospital.

She was born in the Town of York in Dane County to Fred and Ida(Werner) Luther on August 2, 1914. She spent her early life on their farm where she attended Lone Oak Rural School. Upon graduation she attended Marshall High School. After spending a year at Columbia County Normal School she began teaching in rural schools in the Marshall area.

In September of 1943 she joined the Women's Army Corps where she spent two years in various camps in the United States during WWII. Margaret was discharged in October 1945 as a Staff Sergeant. Upon returning from service she began teaching in the Sun Prairie Elementary Schools. In 1946 she married James Taylor. She returned to Edgewood College earning her four year degree while teaching full time. Her teaching career spanned 39 years before she retired in 1976.

Margaret enjoyed sports and was an avid Packer fan. She bowled, played bridge and various card games. The most rewarding part of her life was spent with her family and friends.

She is survived by her son, James (Mary) and her two grandsons, Tony (Sarah) and Andy (Katie). She was preceded in death by her husband James in l986, five sisters, five brothers, many loving nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hospice Care Inc., or to a charity of your choice.

Visitation will be from 9:30-11:00 a.m. at Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 232 Windsor St., Sun Prairie with the service immediately following. Family and friends are invited to lunch following the service at the church. A private burial will follow.
