Margaret "Maggie" Werndli

July 3, 1998 — January 30, 2021

Margaret Kristine Werndli left this world unexpectedly on January 30, 2021. She was beloved by her close family and friends who will miss her greatly.

Maggie was born July 3, 1998 in Madison, WI.  She was funny, smart, caring, and had a wonderful sense of humor. She loved her friends and family very much. She was a creative soul born with natural artistic talent. She channeled that gift into drawing, crafting, and especially honing her professional-grade makeup skills, which were truly remarkable. In high school she developed a passion for music and was a fan of The Neighborhood, Fall Out Boy, Blink-182, Panic, and attended many concerts. She worked for several years at Milio’s in Waunakee, becoming a manager, where she formed strong friendships. She graduated from Waunakee High School in 2016 with High Honors and attended the University of Minnesota- Twin Cities, eventually shifting to online classes to accommodate her health issues.

Her dogs, Jake, Trixie, and Olive, had a special place in her life.  In 2019 she adopted a senior rescue dog, Moo Moo, who loved her dearly and was always by her side.

Maggie lived with chronic debilitating illness in recent years including POTS, dysautonomia, chronic migraine and dizziness. Her family is grateful that she is no longer suffering.

She is survived by her parents, Todd and Jae Werndli; her brother Alex and sister-in-law Chaimae Mahmou-Werndli; and her grandfather Ronald Thorstad. Aunts, uncles, and cousins who will always keep Maggie in their hearts include Becky Broering, Ted Broering, and their children Sam and Sophie; Tom Thorstad; Jim and Barbara Thorstad and their children Isabel and Julia. Three beloved grandparents – Laureen Thorstad, and Tom and Carol Werndli – predeceased her.

Maggie cared deeply about social justice issues and disability rights, and she supported several animal rescue organizations.  In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Dysautonomia International, ThisisHouston (Pet rescue), or the Wisconsin Women’s Network.
