Marian E. Becker

May 8, 1923 — March 27, 2011

Marian E. (Deeter) Becker passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 27, 2011. She was 87.

Born to Jess and Nellie Snyder in Toledo, Ohio on May 8, 1923, Marian E. (Deeter) Becker of Peoria, AZ, lived in the greater Phoenix area for nearly 30 years before moving to Madison, WI, to live with her youngest son and his family in November 2010. Marian married Reon W. Deeter in 1945. Together they had two sons, William R. of Doylestown, PA, and Richard J. of Madison, WI. Following the death of Reon in 1973, she married Fred J. Becker with whom she lived until his death in the mid 1980s.

Marian graduated from DeVilbiss High School in Toledo, OH, in 1941. She was deeply involved in her children's school activities serving on numerous committees and chairing the band booster organization at Whitmer High School in the mid 1960s. An avid reader, she became a world traveler in her later years. Marian was a member of Eastern Star, Toledo Chapter, and worked for Dr. Thomas Brown Jr. as a clerical staff member before moving to Arizona. In addition to her two sons; Marian is survived by daughter-in-laws, Linda S. and Barbara J.; four grandchildren, Kirk, Drew, Scott, and Melissa Deeter; nine great-grandchildren and many beloved nieces and their families. She was preceded in death by her sister, Cherrie M. Stacko and her brother, Horace W. Snyder.

Referred to by the children in her family as ""GREAT"", Marian often played cards with neighbors, took day trips to local casinos, was active in her mobile park, hosted family and friends who would come to visit her each winter, and baked her famous peanut butter cookies for almost every family occasion.

Born with a wonderful sense of humor, Marian loved to laugh, was a great prankster, and was never afraid to be the butt of a good joke. She was tough when she needed to be but had a heart that was bigger than she was.
