Marian J. Halpin, age 92, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 16, 2009.  Marian was born on May 26, 1917, the daughter of Dr. Dwight and Elizabeth ( Gotham) Moore, in Lone Rock, WI.    Marian was a loving and nurturing   wife and a mother, and unselfishly devoted her life to her family.  Her strong family values were instilled in her by her parents.  Marian was the middle child, having 3 brothers and 3 sisters. Marian was very involved in her sisters care during their final years.   She was united in marriage to John L. ""Jack"" Halpin on August 6, 1936.  Jack passed away on February 4, 1974.  Marian was very involved in her children's lives, and was active in girl scouts, as well as their many other activities.  She was also employed at JCPenny for 28 years when her children were older.  She loved to crochet, cross stitch, and could often be found doing crossword puzzles.  She also enjoyed gardening and feeding and watching birds.  Marian was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church for over 50 years.   She is survived by her loving children; James (Janet), Mary (Robert), John (Mary), and Robert (Cathy),  and she cherished her 11 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, with another on the way.  Marian was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, and her sisters; Clara, Beth, and Dorothy, and three brothers; Harold, Myron, and Norman.   A visitation will be held from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Rd., Madison.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at Bethany United Methodist Church, 3910 Mineral Point Rd., Madison,.  Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.  The family would like to thank the staff of Harmony Assisted Living in McFarland for their loving and compassionate care.
