Marian Onsrud

March 24, 1928 — June 19, 2010

Stoughton- Marian Onsrud left this world on Saturday, June 19, 2010 in her beloved home encircled by the love of her dear ones.  Marian was born in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Luella and Arthur Anderson.  She moved to Utica as a teenager and attended Stoughton High School.  There she met the love of her life, Richard Onsrud.  They were fortunate to share 63 years together.   Marian had an artistic eye and was an accomplished seamstress.  When she discovered her knack for upholstery she started up a business.  Her reputation for fine craftsmanship kept her busy for the next 55 years.   M arian's home was a colorful, cozy refuge fragrant with the scent of fresh coffee.  There you could always find laughter and lively conversation.  She loved to talk politics.  She will be remembered for her curiosity, her compassion, and her humor.  She taught us through example to get through tough times with optimism and determination.   Marian is survived by her husband, Richard; her children, Roger Onsrud, Susan (Jim) Krause, Gary Onsrud and Jeffrey (Cathy) Onsrud; her grandchildren, Josh (Silvina Weimueller) Krause, Amanda Krause, Peter Coberly, Michael Onsrud and Sarah and Nathan Russell; her brother, James Anderson; special friends, Paul and Lisa Coon and their children Jonathan and Meghan; and many other dear friends and relatives.  Marian was preceded in death by her son, Jon, in 2008.   Marian loved a party.  A Celebration of her Life will be held at the family home on Saturday, July 17, 2010 from 1:00 PM until 5:00 PM.  The family wants to convey their deepest gratitude to the Hospice team who guided Marian and us with the skill and compassion through her transition.
