From a young age Marianne was involved in ballet and tap dance. As a teenager she moved to Racine, WI to live with her grandparents so she could further her dance career. While in Racine she attended Racine Horlick High School where she started dating the love of her life, Bradford Boyd. She first met Brad while visiting her grandparents in Racine and played with Brad as a young child in the sandbox. They had their first date on February 23, 1941 where they went to the movies and had “White Tower” hamburgers. February 23rd continued to be their “special day” up until Brad’s passing in 2010.
Marianne had many hobbies including sewing, needlework, cooking, baking, photography, and matting & framing. Her favorite hobby was photography. Marianne was often behind the lens of a camera taking pictures of her family, nature, family trips and their travels. She enjoyed working in the dark room, developing film and printing many of her photos both In color and black & white. Marianne loved to travel and when Brad was planning a business trip, she would plan out their sightseeing activities. They traveled to many countries including India, Europe, Korea, Hong Kong, and all over the United States. Once they returned home, Marianne would begin to put together slide shows and in later years, photo books journaling their travels. Marianne would proudly show her slide shows and photo books to anyone who was interested.
