Madison - Marianne (Christiansen) Massie, 77, passed away on September 26, 2017. She was born on February 14, 1940, in Hurley, WI to Oscar and Ellen (Nelson) Christiansen. Marianne grew up in Hurley, WI and Seymour, WI. She attended the University of Wisconsin - Madison where she received a degree in Social Work in 1961.
Marianne worked for JCPenney's in the catalog department in West Towne Mall, retiring after 27 years of service. She was active in the community and her hobbies. Marianne volunteered with American Girl Company, working to restore and resell dolls and accessories to raise dollars for Madison Children's Museum. Her last assignment was as team leader for the Kaya doll series. She had many hobbies needlepoint, basket weaving, knitting and quilting.
Marianne married Leonard R. Massie on September 3, 1960. They were happily married for 57 years.
Marianne is survived by her spouse Leonard; her children Gwen (Dennis) Heineck, Jill (Shaun) Lynch, Timothy (Jenny) Massie, and Kristina (Jason) Study; her grandchildren Brittany, Bailey, Quinn, Courtney, Jase, Riley, Lea, Benjamin, and Amelia; her sister Joanne (Jim) Trustem and brother Danny (Kumcha) Christiansen, numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives
A Memorial Service will held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday October 28, 2017 at BETHEL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 312 Wisconsin Ave. A visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Friday October 27, 2017 at Cress Funeral Home, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison, and also from 11:00 AM until the time of the service on Saturday at the church.
