In loving memory of the beautiful and vibrant Maribel Holewinski (THE MOM) who passed away unexpectedly and peacefully on Jan 15, 2022. She was born in Ahuachapan, El Salvador on February 6, 1953, to Marcelina Diaz and Arturo Silva.
In 1984, Maribel chased her dreams to the USA where she met Doug Holewinski and soon brought her son Carlos (Vladimir) to join her. Maribel and Doug then had Alden & Roxanne. Doug amazingly convinced her to move to the frozen tundra of Madison where she too became a lifelong and devoted fan of the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers. She found her second home at Ultratech of Madison where she made numerous friends and happily worked for 29 years.
When Maribel wasn’t in the kitchen, you could find her doting on her grandkids, sneaking them candy and money, and filling their plates with more than they could ever eat. Maribel also loved watching and going to Brewers games, boxing, and a good telenovela. She enjoyed the company of her cat, Princess, and feeding the birds and the squirrels by hand. She loved spending time with the people she loved.
Wherever she went, she made a friend with her cheerful personality, bright smile, and contagious laugh. By the end of the night, wherever you were, she would have you up and dancing with her. Julio Iglesias and Selena were some of her favorites, but it didn’t really matter. If there was music, she was dancing.
Maribel was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Armando Silva Diaz, Julio Arturo Silva Diaz, Wilfredo Diaz; and sisters, Rosa Hermelinda Diaz and Elvira Diaz.
She is survived by Doug Holewinski and her children, Carlos (Taiya), Alden (Sarah), and Roxanne (Thomas); her grandchildren, Jackson, Jorja, Isabella, David, Asher and Cecilia; her sister, Juana Antonia Diaz; brothers, Salvador Diaz, Alfonso Silva and Armando Silva Diaz; her mother-in-law; many nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law and friends that became family.
Even though she was taken too soon, she lived an extraordinary life surrounded by people who adored her. She had an amazing impact on so many lives and touched countless lives with her generous heart.
