Marie Gertrude Carvin

Madison - Marie Gertrude Carvin, age 95, passed away at Oakwood West on Friday, Aug. 13, 2010. Marie was born on November 23, 1914, in Elyria, Ohio and graduated from Elyria High School in 1933. On August 19, 1939, Marie was united in marriage to Willis Carvin. They resided in Maywood, California. Willis passed away in June of 1966.   Marie always loved to dance and to play golf with her husband. After his death, she devoted her life to her two boys, grandchildren and family.  Marie was a great mom and an understanding and close friend.   Marie moved to Madison, Wisconsin in August, 2000 and became a resident at the Oakwood West Retirement Community. Marie is survived by her two sons, John and Jim; and three grandchildren, Nicholas, Rebecca and Jay. Marie's family wishes to invite family friends to a celebration of her life on Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2010 at RESURRECTION CHAPEL, OAKWOOD WEST, 6201 Mineral Point Road, Madison.   There will be a visitation beginning at 1 p.m. followed by a Funeral Scripture service beginning at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Oakwood Foundation, 6201 Mineral Point Road, Madison, WI 53705; and HospiceCare, Inc. 5395 E.
