Marie Dolan

October 3, 1942 — June 22, 2021

Marie Antoinette Dolan, 78 years old, passed away unexpectedly at her home in Auburndale, FL on June 22, 2021.  Marie was born on October 3, 1942 in Chicago IL, the daughter of Nicholas and Ann Servedio.  She married the love of her life, Thomas C. Dolan, on August 3, 1963 and they continued to reside in Chicago until they relocated to the Madison WI area in 1980.  Later, in 2013, Marie relocated to Florida to be closer to her daughter Karen’s family.

After graduating High School, Marie went on to Secretarial School and then employed with various companies as an administrative assistant along with various bookkeeping positions until her retirement.  She and her husband Tom were the owners of Capitol Elevator Company in Wisconsin until Tom became too ill and passed away from Cancer in 1996.  However, Marie’s proudest role was being a wife, mom, and finally a grandma to her grandchild, Dominic.  Marie was always a busy, active, and organized lady who rarely sat still.  She enjoyed raising her family, working hard, and spending time getting together with her many friends.  It wasn’t until she suffered two very unsuccessful back surgeries that she faced the challenges of a much slower paced lifestyle.  Mom loved to read and enjoyed endless mystery novels, watching her favorite mystery shows on television as well as The Hallmark Christmas movies at the holidays, and always keeping up on the current events and political drama in the national and local news.  She was a wiz at her crossword puzzles and always enjoyed a good game of solitaire after lunch.  Marie always looked forward to visits with her grandson Dominic – those were times she greatly cherished.  It was a special treat for Marie whenever she had the opportunity to enjoy a nice meal out at a restaurant.  She herself was not very passionate about cooking - but she had many raving fans for her amazing homemade spaghetti sauce and lasagna dinners – always proud of her Italian heritage.  Her favorite color was green and her favorite flower were sunflowers – as evident in her home décor that surrounded her with many sentimental knickknacks and photos.  Marie was a very faithful Catholic and sought comfort and peace from her daily rosary prayers and she always made sure to include prayers for anyone she knew as well as random strangers in need of God’s blessings.

Marie is survived by her two daughters Linda (Dolan) Lindgren and Karen (Dolan) Descafano, grandson Dominic Descafano, special family members Joe Descafano, Rich Vanarsdale, Mark Lindgren, nephew Andrew Dolan Jr, three nieces Francesca Gettelman, Melinda Byrd, and Bethann Johnson, and two brother-in-laws Gary Ryno and Andrew Dolan, and her cat, Anna who was her loyal companion always at her side.

Marie is preceded in death by her beloved husband Thomas Dolan, sister Judith Ryno, parents Nicholas and Ann Servedio, and many other extended family and close meaningful friendships, including her beloved pet bird, a sun conure named Charlie.

A visitation will begin at 11:00am, followed by a service at 11:30am at Resurrection Cemetery in Madison.

Memorials may be made Dominic’s (Marie’s grandson) special needs school:  Karen M. Siegel Academy, 935 Evenhouse Road, Lake Alfred, FL 33850
