Stoughton- Marie Smigun, 89, of Stoughton, died Monday, Dec. 21, 2009 at Nazareth Nursing Home. She was born in Racine, WI on March 27, 1920. Marie graduated from Horlick High, and went on to work at Horlick's Malt Mfg., Hamilton Beach, Rainfair Inc., and managed a Hallmark card shop before retiring.  Although she worked, she was never too busy for friends and family.  She was a Mom to all and had a compassionate heart and fun-loving nature as evidenced by her many friends. Marie was the wife of the late Theodore Smigun who passed away in1993.  She was also preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Marie Laznicka; brothers, Charles Laznicka, Edward (Bernice) Laznicka, Frank (Christina) Greiner; sisters, Millie (Clarence) Brown, Helen (Nick) Samarzea, Olga (Ray) Bonn; brothers & sisters-in-law, Alexander (Amy) Smigun, Walter (Betty)Smigun, Katherine Smigun, Ann (Bernard)Valley; and cousin Evelyn Katzke. She is survived by one brother, James (Lisa) Laznicka of California; two daughters, Kay Hiller of Madison and Donna (Robert) Johnson of N. Carolina; grandchildren, Laura (Joe) Heuer of Greenville, WI, Brenda (Joe) Alagna of Colorado, Tadd (Teresa) Smejkal of McFarland, WI, Kim (Rangsey) Pich of Louisiana; great grandchildren, Brent and Joshua Heuer, Dylan and Matthew Alagna, Mikayla and Michael Pich, Mackensey Gervasi, and Tanner Boehnen. Marie had many close family members and friends who were dear to her, but too numerous to mention. Special thanks to all of the nurses and aides at Nazareth and the Hospice workers who helped to make her comfortable. A private celebration of Marie's life will be held on what was to be her 90th birthday, March 27, 2010.
