Marilu LaMorgese

August 3, 1945 — November 14, 2024

Madison

Marilu La Morgese, 79, passed away peacefully on Thursday November 14, 2024 with her two daughters by her side. She was the second to youngest of 11 children and her parents where Salvador Fernandez and Anna Maria Fernandez. Marilu was born and raised in Guadalajara Mexico where she met her Husband Robert S. La Morgese while she was attending the University of Guadalajara for art and Robert, UAG Medical School of Guadalajara.

After completing University they moved to New Jersey and Married on November 3, 1973 and then later moved to New City, New York where they raised a family together. She has survived by two beautiful daughters, Cynthia La Morgese and Jennifer La Morgese, along with her loving husband Robert. Our mother was our rock for 48 years and in those years she devoted her life to making a loving, artistic and happy home for her family. She was a fierce and loving spirit who was generous to all and a kind and devoted mother. She would have done absolutely anything for her two daughters. She was crafty, smart witty and a generous soul. She was a devote Catholic and she always tried to help others when she could.

She was a very talented artist who loved sculpture and oil painting the most. Art and the ability to see beauty in everything and everyone came so naturally to her. She was always a shining light with the kindest eyes and warmest smile.

Marilu’s name that was originally given to her at birth was Maria de la Luz, which translates in English to “Mary of the light” and that is exactly what she was too so many people. She later changed her name to Marilu when she became a U.S. citizen but she will always be Mary of the light to us. Our mother liked to say goodbye to us by saying “ I love you forever”. We will always love you forever mom.

Marilu was preceded in death by her parents Salvador and Anna Maria Fernandez, along with her bothers and sisters. Marilu was also preceded by her fur babies, Percy and Spotty.

She is survived by her husband Robert La Morgese, and two daughters, Jennifer La Morgese, and Cynthia La Morgese. She is also survived by her grandkids, Gabriel Moran, Micheal Moran, Finnan Eaton and Fiona Eaton.
