WAUNAKEE-Marilyn E. Acker, age 88, died on Wed. July 12, 2017 at Homestead Living in Waunakee. She was born on Dec 27, 1928, in Town of Berry to Leo and Rose (Wagner) Meier. She married Gregory Acker at St Peter's in Ashton on April 8, 1947, and he preceded her in death in 1980. Marilyn was a homemaker as well as a big help on the farm with her husband, Greg. She moved to Waunakee in 1990 and was a member of St John's Catholic Church. Marilyn always enjoyed playing cards, bingo, gardening and raising vegetables.
Survivors include three daughters, Carolyn (Jerry) Maier, Jean (Butch) Hensen, Shirley Acker; two sons, Ron and Reg (Lynn) Acker; a son-in-law, Ron Marx; 17 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Fidelis Endres and Charlotte (Joe) Dorn; two brothers, Rev. Laverne Meier and Joe (Sue) Meier; a sister-in-law, Carrie Meier; and sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband and one daughter, Judy Marx, and two brothers, Leonard and Cyril (Margaret).
Funeral services will be held on Monday July 17, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St John's Catholic Church, 209 South St., Waunakee. Msgr. James Gunn will officiate. Friend may call on Sunday, July 16, 2017, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Winn-Cress Funeral Home, 5785 Hwy. Q, Waunakee. Friends may also call at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. A reception will follow the Mass and burial will take place at 2:30 p.m. at St Peter's Cemetery in Ashton.
