Madison-Marilyn (Ramaker) Gibson, age 78, died on August 9, 2012. She was born on August 28, 1933 to Shirley and Leta (Snyder) Ramaker at Kohler, Wisconsin. She graduated from Kohler High School in 1951 and did secretarial work at Kohler Co. for two years before marrying. She moved to Madison in 1953 where she resided for the rest of her life. She was a member of the First Baptist Church since 1953. For many years she square danced with the Grand Squares of Madison. Much of her time over a period of 50 years was spent Rosemaling. She served as President of the Wisconsin State Rosemaling Association and won several "Best of Show" ribbons for her work. She worked as a tour guide and Rosemaler for Little Norway, Mt. Horeb, Wisconsin. She loved flowers and plants and was an avid gardener her entire life.
Survivors include two sons, Gary (Christina Opitz) Gibson of Midland, Michigan, and Gregg (Janell) Gibson of Fountain City, Wisconsin. She dearly loved her two grandchildren Taylor and Sawyer Gibson. She is further survived by her brother Brian (Judy) Ramaker of Montgomery, Texas and two nieces and a nephew.
Funeral Services will be held at the First Baptist Church, 518 N. Franklin Ave., on Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with a visitation one hour prior. A Tuesday evening visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Cress Funeral Home, 3610 Speedway Road.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Madison. Burial will be at Woodland Cemetery in Kohler, Wisconsin.
