Marilyn (Dorsey) Ladwig, age 88, of Stoughton passed away peacefully on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2022, surrounded by her family. Born on November 16, 1933, in Greenwich, Ohio, she was the daughter of Vincent and Cora Mae Dorsey. She married her husband Gordon in 1959, settling in Stoughton in 1969.
Marilyn was a joyful and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She worked tirelessly raising her children, and her lighthearted nature made her quick to laugh and find the bright side of any situation. Selflessly living her life in service to God, family, friends and community, she generously shared her time and abilities to help others. Her caring nature was reflected in her calling as a registered nurse - working at Stoughton Hospital as a caregiver and later in administration. And as a devout Catholic and active member of St. Ann’s Church, she served as a Eucharistic Minister, prepared meals at the Catholic Multicultural Center, provided assistance at funeral masses, and quilted with the parish quilting circle (among many other activities).
Marilyn is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Gordon; seven children, Judith Davis, Jennifer (Fran) Chiaramonte, Geoff (Eileen), Greg (Evelyn), Susan (Kurt) Stormberg, Stephanie, and Nancy (Craig Davidson); ten grandchildren, Nicole (Andy) Hjortland and Jacob Davis, Colleen, Caroline, Elizabeth, and Emma Chiaramonte, Zachary and Elissa Ladwig, Megan Stormberg and Anya Ladwig; and two great-grandchildren, Remy and Nora Hjortland; and her siblings, Dolores Mandel, Sr. Mary Francis Theresa, Tess Hatmacher, and Steve Dorsey.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Pat Givens and Catherine Meehan, and brother Ronald Dorsey.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Msgr. Gerard Healy and Fr. Randy Budnar for their spiritual support to Marilyn throughout her life.
A visitation will be held at St. Ann’s Catholic Church on Saturday, Nov. 5 at 9:00 AM followed by a funeral mass at 10:00 AM. Please send flowers and memorials to St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Stoughton, WI. In remembrance of Marilyn, contributions can be made to the Sisters of Notre Dame in Toledo, Ohio.
Marilyn brought kindness to every life she touched, was loved by her family and friends, and will be greatly missed.
