Marilyn M. Shirk

Stoughton/Racine – Marilyn Mae Shirk, age 81, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2024, at Agrace Hospice in Fitchburg.  She was born May 10, 1942, in Menominee, WI to Raymond and June (Doughty) Weier.   Marilyn grew up in Racine and graduated from Horlick High School.  She was a proud member of the Racine Elks marching band where she played the French horn.   While in the Elks band, Marilyn met her future husband, John.  The couple were married October 17, 1964 in Racine.

Marilyn is survived by her son Edward (Carol) Shirk; granddaughters Caitlin Shirk and Natalie (Andrew) Shirk; grandsons Collin Walter and Coty Shirk; and many nieces, nephews, and cherished cousins who she enjoyed seeing at their Honka Group.  She is preceded in death by her husband John, her son Robert, her sister Lois, and her parents Raymond and June.

A private gathering to celebrate Marilyn’s life will be held later in the year.

The family is grateful to the wonderful memory care staff at Kettle Park Senior Living in Stoughton for their loving care of Marilyn over the past few years and to Agrace Hospice for their compassionate care in her final days.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Agrace.
