Marilyn Lee Chapin Weinstock Obituary
Marilyn Lee Weinstock, 83, of Madison, formerly Marshall, WI, passed away November 1, 2024, with her daughters by her side. Some called her Marilyn and some called her Lee, but those dearest to her called her Grandma Lee.
Born November 5, 1940, she was the daughter of the late David and Pauline Chapin. She grew up in the Philadelphia and suburban area and graduated from Penn State University in 1962, carrying her Nittany Lion loyalty with her for her entire life. She taught elementary school in Pennsylvania, California and Wisconsin, retiring from Marshall Public Schools after teaching there for 32 years. After retirement, she served on the Marshall School Board and Marshall Library Board for several years.
She is survived by daughters Amy Bergholz and Heidi Rogers; grandsons Collin (Thianna) Bergholz, Grant Rogers, and Hunter Bergholz; and great grandson Lane Bergholz. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, David and Pauline Chapin, brother Mike Chapin and sister-in-law Susan Chapin.
Marilyn will always be remembered for her dedication to her students and fellow teachers, doing anything within her power to help them succeed. Every one of her students was very special to her and she remembered them all. Her love for Penn State was always proudly on display, and she would bet anyone a soda on a Wisconsin vs. Penn State matchup. One of the things she loved to do most was going for a drive around Marshall, always pulling over for a chat with a friend. She truly treasured her many friendships. Thank you to her care takers at UW-Hospital, Eden Vista Madison and Agrace Hospice Care.
A Celebration of Life open house will be held on Friday, November 22 from 4:00-7:00 pm at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall, 605 Madison St., Marshall, WI
