Marilynn L. Gleason

Marilynn Gleason, age 88, died Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at Oakwood Village East.  She was born April 8, 1922, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Thero and Irene (Morgan) Baken.  She was a graduate of East High School in 1940, a member of Bethel Lutheran Church for many years, then Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.  She loved traveling and spending time with her family and friends.  Prior to her retirement, she was employed by the  Wisconsin Department of Transportation.  On June 25, 1940, Marilynn was united in marriage with Lloyd Gleason in Decorah, IA.  This year they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. In addition to her husband Lloyd, survivors include a son Lloyd Gleason of Madison; 2 daughters: Marcia (Alden) Bahr and Barbara Troedel both of Madison; 6 grandchildren: James (Shawna) and Lori (Matt) Gleason, Stephanie (Cary) Ralston, Jeff Twito, David (Monique) Bahr and Brian (Cindy) Bahr; 4 great grandchildren; 1 sister Marjorie Svanoe of CO and numerous other relatives.  She was preceded in death by a daughter Janice Twito, her parents and 1 brother Thomas Baken. Services will be held at 10:00 am Friday, October 15 at the  Oakwood Village East TREE OF LIFE CHAPEL 5565 Tancho Drive Madison where friends may call from 9:00 am until time of service.  Reverend Gwen Brandfass will officiate.  Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.  The family would like to thank all the staff at Oakwood Village East  for their very compassionate care, especially during Marilynn's final months.  She will be remembered for her love, kindness and faith in God.
