Marjorie J. Fitzhugh, 82, passed away peacefully at home on August 12, 2024. She was born July 1, 1942, in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, the daughter of Evelyn Peltier Hayden and John Charles Hayden. She married her high school sweetheart, Edward Fitzhugh, in 1962. They were married 47 years. She was preceeded in death by her parents, husband Ed and daughter Kim. She is survived by her daughter Debbi Peterson (Mike), Sister Nancy Field, grandchildren Haylee Peterson and Joey Jenkins, sister-in-law Ann Boeckman, sister-in-law Ada Hayden, and special Aunt Laverne Berge, plus special nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her wonderful dog (Sasha) that she called her “mental health.”
Marg attended Sacred Heart grade school. She graduated from Lincoln High School followed by Martins Beauty School in Milwaukee. She worked in the profession in both Manitowoc and Madison Wisconsin. They moved to Madison in the early 1960’s and raised their girls there. They enjoyed the simpler way of life spending many years camping in this beautiful state.
She was robbed of her last few years as her dementia progressed. Despite this, she could still beat you at Scrabble, which she played daily.
A special thanks to her personal caretaker for the last 4 1/2 years, Kim Atkinson and her dog Max, and Agrace/Hospice Care staff who assisted with final weeks.
She will be missed immensely. She will be remembered as a loving mother, wife, sister, grandmother and friend with a kind soul, a good sense of humor and for her love of cardinals.
