Madison -- Marjorie passed away on Saturday, March 27, 2010 surrounded by those who loved and cared for her the most. She was born on November 22, 1918 in Buffalo Center, Iowa to Mabel and Jens Jensen. While living in Chicago she met and married her husband, Gordon. They were married for fifty two years before he preceded her in death in 1995. She spent many wonderful years with her husband and two children in the suburbs of Chicago. Hers was a very close family as her two sisters were married to Gordon's two brothers. During their marriage they lived in Chicago, Pennsylvania, Minnesota, Boston and Arkansas. For the past ten years she has resided in Madison. Anyone who has met Marjorie will always remember her smile that would light up a room. She was a friend to all and was always putting the happiness of others before her own. She taught us all the meaning of living a life of caring and compassion. In her later years, she would have many medical setbacks -- but they never broke her spirit. Her resolve and strength to come back from adversity gave her the nickname of the ""energizer bunny"". In the final days it was her body and not her spirit that tired her out. However, she would have loved to have enough time to play one more game of bingo. She is survived by her daughter, Kay (Keith) Anderson; son, Gordon (Judi) Johnson; grandsons, Cory (Rachel) Olson, Matt Olson, Kevin Olson, and Lucas and Ben Johnson; great grandson, Max Olson; sisters, Mary (Russ) Johnson and Louise (Sid) Johnson; nephew, Kent Johnson; and many treasured friends across the country. She is preceded in death by her husband, Gordon; parents, Mabel and Jens Jensen; sister-in-law, Roxanne (Jimmy) Thompson; her niece, Nancy Quinlan; and her great nephew, Joshua Quinlan. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 5763 Hwy Q, Waunakee with Pastor Kirk W. Morledge officiating. A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service at the church on Tuesday. Interment will be held at Sunset Memorial Park in Minneapolis, Minnesota at a later date. She would want to thank HospiceCare Inc. for allowing her to have her final wish to live her last days at her ""home"" at Sebring Assisted Care. Her family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation for the loving care given to Marjorie by the staff at Sebring. We would also like to thank Dr. Sandhya Garg, and Heidi and Krissy at UW Health, whose care and dedication allowed her to live a longer and enriched life. For those who prefer, memorials could be given in Marjorie's name to Sebring Assisted Living, 7710 S. Brookline Drive, Madison, WI 53719, or HospiceCare Inc., 5395 E. Cheryl Parkway, Madison, WI 53711.
