Marjorie Mehltretter, 91, passed away on March 1, 2022, in her home. She was born September 11, 1930, to Walter and Charlotte Olson in Richland County. There, she was later raised by her stepmother, Dorothy, and graduated from Ithaca High School in 1948.
She married the love of her life, Edwin Mehltretter, on November 15, 1951, and spent the next 69 years together. They had 2 children. Ed started "Ed's Appliance Service" with Marj as his secretary. She enjoyed many years of league bowling and dancing to the bands that would play at Badger Bowl. She also enjoyed cooking great meals for her family.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ed, who was waiting for her with open arms; her brother, Melvin (Lorraine) Olson; sister, Sally (Wayne) Frye; and stepbrother, Tom (Dorothy) Gillingham.
Marj is survived by her children, Debbie (Tom) Vallette and Dennis (Sue) Mehltretter; granddaughter Lacey Mehltretter; half-sisters, Barb Bailey and Bev (Bruce) McCulloch; stepbrothers, Norman Gillingham and Cecil (Shelia) Gillingham; and many other relatives.
Visitation will be held at Cress Funeral Home 3610 Speedway Rd, Madison, WI 53705 on Wednesday March 9, 2022, at 10:00am with a service to follow at 11:00am. She will be laid to rest at Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the family or to the People’s United Methodist Church, 103 N Alpine Pkwy, Oregon, 53575.
