Marjorie L. Trosper

October 4, 1925 — September 27, 2008

Marjorie L. Trosper, age 82, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 27, 2008 in the loving presence of her family.   She was born October 4, 19 25 to John L. and Ida Lee (BeVelle) Owens in Chillicothe , MO.   In 1945 Marjorie married Grayson L. Trosper in Madison , WI .   She worked at Wisco Hardware and later when the family moved to Oregon , she worked as an Administrative Assistant at the Wisconsin School for Girls which is now Oakhill Correctional Institution.    She loved growing up as a true Midwest farm girl, beginning in Missouri and continuing that lifestyle when the family moved to the farm in 1960.    Together she and Grayson worked hard farming and developing MarJan Farms located west of Oregon , WI.   Raising and helping her kids show beef cattle were highlights during those years.    After Grayson passed away in June 2002, she continued to live on the family farm.   She enjoyed looking out over the golden fields of wheat, soybeans and tasseled ears of corn from her home.   Planting time and the fall harvest were her favorite times of the year.   With her husband Grayson, she raised her four beloved children and instilled in them the Midwest values that shaped her life and work ethic.    She balanced her family time by traveling between Wisconsin and California where her children and grandchildren resided.   There were always competitive negotiations as to who got mom and grandma and for how long as she was so loved and wanted by everyone. She loved listening to music - especially the big bands of her era.    She enjoyed spending time with her good friend and neighbor, Grace, and her dog Buddy -- her devoted companion and protector.   She loved and faithfully attended her children's and grandchildren's events.   She was an avid sports fan and kept abreast of many team stats and team news; especially being a Packer and Badger fan. Marjorie is survived by her children, Gregory Trosper, Baraboo, WI; Janet (Mike Tomazin) Trosper, Madera, CA; John Trosper, San Diego, CA; Ray Trosper, Norco, CA; 4 grandchildren, Kara (Andrew) Rose, Sun Prairie, WI; Jared (Heather) Trosper, Fond Du Lac, WI; Daniel (Victoria) Trosper, Biloxi, MS; Katrina Trosper, Norco, CA; 1 great granddaughter, Abigail Rose, Sun Prairie, WI; 2 step grandchildren, Dubravka Tomazin, Sacramento, CA; Ivan Tomazin, San Luis Obispo, CA; and 3 daughter in laws; Carol Trosper, Queen Creek, AZ;   Rinda Ruppel, Las Vegas, NV; and Susan Sierer Baraboo, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Grayson; granddaughter Kala Lee Trosper, and brother, JL ""Jack"" Owens.   A special thank you to the Doctors and staff at University Hospital ; their compassion and support was appreciated.   There will be a visitation for family and friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Thursday, October 2, 2008 at the Cress Funeral Home, 3610 Speedway Road in Madison .   A memorial service will be at 7:00 PM .   Private graveside services for family will be held at Prairie Mound Cemetery in Oregon the following morning.   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
