STEVENS POINT/ McFARLAND - Mark Engebretson, age 57, passed away at his home surrounded by loving family on Sunday March 17, 2013. Mark had been battling a very aggressive form of cancer the past few months.
Mark was born in Stevens Point, on Sept. 21, 1955, to Darold and Lillian Engebretson and attended Stevens Point Area High School and Midstate Technical College where he received a degree in drafting. Mark began his career as a draftsman with Skippy Enterprises and later moved to Madison and a sales position with Therm-All, a commercial green building insulation company.
Mark would have been with Therm-All 25 years this July. He advanced from District Manager to national accounts manager to Director of Marketing and Business Development. Mark contributed greatly to the growth and success of the Company. Most recently he had become one of the industry's leading experts for energy code compliance. Mark sat on the energy code committees for the National Insulation Association.
Mark was a fun loving guy and his presence always brought a spark to any gathering. He loved his sports, especially the Badgers and Packers. Above all else, he was a loving father with a huge heart.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Dave. He is survived by his sons, Scott of Austin Texas, Andrew (Nina Hanson) of Sun Prairie and Matthew of San Diego, Calif.; siblings, Alan (Marge) of Stevens Point, Gail Engebretson of Madison, and Marcia Engebretson (Jane Bidwell) of Hayward; Mark's fianc�, Joanie Blanchar Tyler of McFarland; and her four daughters, Hailey of Las Vegas, Hannah and Maggie of Madison, and Lillie of McFarland, and many loving friends and co-workers.
A Celebration of Mark's Life, with the option to share your memories, will be held at 12:30 pm at Cress Funeral Home, 5801 Highway 51, McFarland on Sunday, April 7, 2013. The family will greet friends beginning at NOON. The celebration will continue at The Green Lantern, McFarland with light fare and Mark's favorite music.
A very large thank you to Agrace HospiceCare of Fitchburg. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Estate of Mark Engebretson to establish a college trust-fund for Lillie Tyler.
