Mark W. Larson, age 70, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday April 23, 2024. He was born July 31, 1953 the son of Dolores “Midge” (Schmidt) and William “Bud” Larson. Mark lived many places growing up as the son of a military man including England and Alaska. He graduated high school in Hawaii in 1971 and attended college in Southern Illinois. As a child and young adult Mark had a passion for baseball and was scouted by the pros as a pitcher when he was in college before suffering a career ending shoulder injury. After college he went on to serve his country by joining the Air Force and was honorably discharged a short time later. Mark then went on to have a successful career as a network engineer in San Antonio, TX. It was there that he met the love of his life, Olga, who he married in 1983. In addition to baseball Mark loved holding babies, watching sunsets and lightning in the night sky, collecting rocks he found on the frequent walks he took, and spending time with family, friends and his beloved dogs. In his later years Mark developed dementia and as result would collect silverware from local restaurants but would forget where they came from or how he got them. Mark was a loving husband, father to two children, grandfather, brother, son, uncle, and friend. Those who were lucky enough to know him knew him to be very kind, gentle, and generous. He was always willing to help his friends and loved ones in any way he could and he was very proud of each and every person in his life.
Mark is survived by his wife Olga, his daughter Christina (Eric) Schwartzlow, siblings; Matt (Lois) Larson, William C. (Laura) Larson, and Cyndy (Jeff) Williams, grandchildren; Melia and Zachary Larson, Jayla and Aiden Schwartzlow, and nieces and nephews.
