MADISON---Mark E. Meyer, age 53, passed away at home from an accidental fall on Sunday, August 9, 2020. He was born in Madison on March 3, 1967, to the late William (Bill) and Alice (Peterson) Meyer. Mark always had a smile on his face with a willing hand to help with any task and liked practical jokes.
Mark attended and graduated from Memorial High School and MATC. In 1987 he began working at Molony Tile in Madison, WI, where he enjoyed meeting new people. He took the time and care to listen to those not knowing what they really needed but left with exactly what they wanted for their projects. On March 19, 1994, Mark married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Karen Gill. Although the marriage ended, during their years together they created a life lasting bond.
Mark loved time spent outdoors, whether it be hunting ‘up North’ with his friends, fishing in Canada with friends and family, or just sitting around relaxing and enjoying a good picnic or campfire. With his competitive nature, if he wasn’t playing the sports of baseball, pool, dodgeball or croquet, he was actively supporting them. He was an avid Badgers, Packers, NASCAR, and Chicago Blackhawks fan. Along with all this, Mark also loved animals, especially his black labs, Duchess, Wilma and Petra; and cats, Cocoa and Pebbles.
Mark is survived by his sister Pam Meyer of Verona; brothers, Mike (Theresa) of Madison, and Matt (Bev) of Oregon; four nieces/nephews, Mindy Meyer (Rick Ebrecht) of Seattle, WA, Alex (Meggie) Meyer of Signal Mountain, TN, Dwight Meyer of DeForest, and Eva Meyer of McFarland; six great-nieces/nephews, Petra, Ellie, Aidan, Reese, Kendall and Griffin; and his lifelong best friend Troy (Moose) Donkle.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Pat Bruns and brother-in-law, Ernie Bruns.
Mark got along famously with kids and quickly became their favorite uncle. His many friends who became family, the Donkles, the Beebes and Hauris made his and their lives so much better for being in it.
The family would like to thank the many relatives, friends, co-workers, clients, vendors and tradesmen that have reached out recalling fond memories of Mark.
Due to the Coronavirus, the family is planning a Celebration of Life in August of 2021.
The family requests all memorials go to wildlife or wildlife habitat protection.
“Things don’t always have the happy endings we want in life, but what’s important is how we use these moments to shape our future for the best and make the world a better place.”
