MADISON - Marlene Rae Berg, age 78, passed away on Sunday, July 22, 2012, at her home, following medical complications.
She was born March 11, 1934, in Madison to Helmer and Katherine (Borchardt) Berg. While limited by significant physical disabilities, Marlene enjoyed a full and fruitful life, surrounded by friends and people who supported her. Her laugh was infectious and her sense of humor was always present. Throughout her life she enjoyed listening to music, swimming, boat rides, spending time around children, walks around her neighborhood, and visiting with friends. She was a woman of strong opinions and had many ways to express them. There is an empty space in our community today.
She is survived by her sister, Sandra (Gustavo) del Castillo, of Boston, MA; her niece Sarah (Michael) del Castillo Benhaim, and nephew, Joshua (Jennifer) del Castillo; her dear friend and guardian Heidi Rossiter, her husband and daughter, Dan and Molly; the staff and caregivers at Dreamweavers, including Haddy Rolack, Pam Perdue, Carol Tishman, Baturu Jallow, Alison Houge, and especially Barbara Ridgeman; the staff and consumers at MARC-East, including Debi Webb, Sue Sefzik, and Josie Ramirez; her friends and neighbors, Bev and Tom; her caring physicians, Dr. Bill Schwab and Dr. Annette Glasser, and their medical teams; Agrace Hospice; and the many staff and friends that supported and loved Marlene over the years.
Memorials may be made to Dreamweavers, Inc., 612 W. Main St., Suite 303, Madison, WI 53703 or MARC-East, 3939 Lien Road, Madison, WI 53704.
